Blog Assignment 7: Art and Copy

Art and Copy is a documentary illustrating marketing campaigns and their creators over the last several decades who have revolutionized and popularized the industry.  This documentary is a great motivator for team projects such as the one that we are working on in this class.  Looking at all of the different marketing campaigns over the years and how they have influenced the public can help to get our teams into the right mindset for this project.  The movie gives several good examples of the techniques used by the marketing teams to influence potential buyers and keep them coming back for more.  This has helped out team to continue its pursuit of a good marketing campaign to help out the band and continue to keep its audience happy.  This documentary should be recommended to anyone who is interested in marketing both in social media and in all of its other forms.

Blog Assignment 6

The marketing idea that I came up with for the assignment is: "Hanging Out with the Band"

This marketing concept is one that will attempt to bring the fans closer to the band that they are following.  The campaign will give the audience a more relaxed and friendly look at the band members.  It could consist of several different photos and videos of the band in relaxed settings or candid situations during their daily lives.  This would give the audience a better understanding of the people that play the music they love.  As the name of the concept suggests the point is to make the fans feel as though they are hanging out with the band in a social setting to help them get to know the band.

Blog Assignment 5

In our team marketing project we have chosen to promote a band that is friends with one of the members of our group.  The band already had a few social media sites but they have been taken over by our team for the duration of the project.  The marketing challenges for this project are that the band is local and for the most part is not willing to travel to play because of the jobs that they currently hold.  The target audience for this band based on our SWOT analysis is men and women aged 18 to 30.  The SWOT analysis also told us that fans of the group range into different age groups than the target audience and that it has become popular not just in Ohio but in several different places around the world.  We are still planning on developing other social media platforms than Facebook and are hoping that the popularity will continue to grow.

The Amazingly Focused Roger

We all know the most lovably hated character in American Dad! is Roger:

In a recent episode Roger convinces Steve that he has been invited to join Hogwartz school of witchcraft and wizardry and sends him off to a meth lab pretty much just to see what will happen.  Steve ends up making a lot of money which he deems "muggle money" and gives it all to Roger.  Roger being the upstanding person that he is decides to keep the money and let Steve go back every day until Steve decides to steal some for some home practice and this scene ensues:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR2nso47lm4

A Shot of B 12

I know I already posted a link about Steve's singing, but I know that every fan of American Dad! needs a shot of b12 every once in a while.  This video is from an episode where Steve and his friends join a twelve person boy band at the suggestion of Snot's uncle who is a self proclaimed band agent.

Here is a link to their song: Shot of B12

Enjoy,

Harrison

Singing Steve Smith

Anyone who watches American Dad Knows Steve Smith, the happy go lucky son of Stan Smith and pretty much the nerdiest person who ever lived (in animated form that is).

What an avid watcher would know about Steve however, is that Steve loves to sing and does it often throughout the shows eight seasons.  Here are a couple of links so we can all listen to the sweet musical stylings of Steve.
